Bedroom Furniture Care & Maintenance Guide
At Coriva, our bedroom furniture is crafted to bring long-lasting comfort, stability, and style into your home. To help preserve the structural integrity, appearance, and comfort of your bed frames, headboards, and mattresses, we recommend following these care and maintenance guidelines.
1. Bed Frames & Solid Wood / Metal Care
A well-maintained frame ensures a stable, squeak-free sleep foundation for years to come.
- Routine Dusting: Dust surfaces regularly using a clean, soft, dry lint-free cloth. For deeper cleans, lightly dampen the cloth with clean water and wipe immediately with a dry cloth.
- Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use abrasive cleaners, bleach, ammonia, scouring pads, or solvent-based furniture polish, as these can strip finishes and protective coatings.
- Hardware & Joint Checks: Moving and everyday use can naturally loosen hardware over time. We recommend checking and gently tightening all assembly bolts, center-support legs, and bracket screws every 4–6 months to prevent wobbling and squeaking.
- Placement & Environment: Keep wooden components away from direct heat sources (radiators, space heaters) and avoid prolonged direct sunlight exposure to prevent wood warping, drying, or color fading.
2. Upholstered Beds & Fabric Headboards
Upholstered frames and fabric headboards add elegance and warmth to the bedroom with straightforward fabric maintenance:
- Regular Vacuuming: Dust and pet hair easily settle into woven fabric. Vacuum the headboard and frame rails monthly using a soft brush attachment on low suction.
- Spot Cleaning Stains: Blot liquid spills immediately using a clean, absorbent white cloth or paper towel. Do not rub, as rubbing can push the stain deeper into the weave. For stubborn marks, use a mild, water-free upholstery cleaner or gentle fabric foam, testing first on an inconspicuous area.
- Prevent Snags: Keep sharp accessories, belt buckles, and pet claws away from textured fabrics to avoid snagging threads.
3. Mattress Care & Longevity
Proper care protects your mattress's internal support layers, pocket coils, and pressure-relieving foam:
- Use a Mattress Protector: Always use a breathable, waterproof, or water-resistant mattress protector from day one. It guards against spills, sweat, dust mites, and accidental stains that could void manufacturer warranties.
- Regular Rotation: Rotate your mattress head-to-toe 180 degrees every 3 to 6 months. This distributes body weight evenly and prevents localized sagging or body impressions. (Note: Most modern hybrid and memory foam mattresses are single-sided and should not be flipped upside down unless specified).
- Proper Foundation Support: Always place your mattress on a sturdy, level bed frame with adequate center-leg support and slat spacing (no more than 3 inches apart) to ensure proper airflow and prevent sagging.
- Air It Out: Whenever you wash your bed sheets, leave the mattress uncovered for a couple of hours in a well-ventilated room to let moisture evaporate naturally.
4. Moving & Handling
- Lifting Instead of Dragging: Never drag or push an assembled bed frame across the floor, as this can bend the center support legs, damage joints, or scratch flooring. Always lift with two or more people.
- Mattress Handling: When moving a mattress, carry it flat or vertically along its edge. Do not bend, fold, or tie it tightly, as this can permanently damage internal springs and foam integrity.
